A weekly (minimum four-weeks) lesson plan based on the concept of exploring the world around you. Each topic follows the same three basic steps:

Week One - Sylvia Earle
Week Two - Ibn Battuta
Week Three - Juan Sebastian Elcano
Week Four - Amelia Earhart

 

This is a real explorer topic! Swim under the ocean with Sylvia Earle. Discover her amazing life and how she is working hard to save our oceans! Learn about 'Hope Spots' around the world. Can you contribute to this amazing project?
Next, we travel with Ibn Battuta, a Muslim who went on a pilgrimage and decided not to return home but keep travelling! We will look at Islam and the Five Pillars of Islam. 
Our third adventure will take us along with Juan Sebastian Elcano - the first person to circumnavigate the world! Learn about this voyage full of mutiny, danger and even death! 
Finally, we will learn about Amelia Earhart, her amazing accomplishments as a woman and her strange disappearance. Will we ever truly know what happened?
